Have you ever wondered why one week you feel sexy, confident, creative, unstoppable? While the very next week you feel low, sluggish, and tired? ⁣

Tracking our hormonal cycles can really help us understand the fluctuation of our emotions on a weekly basis.

⁣Generally, our energy levels are closely related to our ovulation and menstruation cycles. One giving us significantly more amount of energy than the other. Those floating weeks in between leading up to and moving away from them may have a lot of personality as well. ⁣

⁣Every woman’s emotional, physical, and energetic response is going to differ. Jotting down a couple notes to yourself (weekly) on how you feel can help you see a pattern of when you’re at your highest and when you need a little bit more down time

This can be incredibly helpful when designing your to-do lists. As well as being easier on yourself when it comes to bloat and inner-dialogue. ⁣

Winter

MENSTRUAL PHASE

Our menstrual phase is deeply connected to the season of  Winter. Much like the leaves that shed from the trees, your body intuitively knows to do the same. What sheds from your womb is a combination of mucus, blood, and tissue from your uterus. Within this same time, you also have the message that guides you into releasing subconscious beliefs and energetic patterns that no longer serve your highest self. This is done with intention, of course. In honoring the natural shed and release of your womb, you begin to follow in the wisdom of The Earth + The Female Form to do the same.

As the unfertilized egg passes, your hormone levels of estrogen and progesterone drop. This may cause a lot of discomfort in your body such as fatigue, cramping, tender breasts, irritability, etc. In Winter, The Earth is calm and still. During this season, it’s a bodily invitation for you to get rooted and create a safe space for introspection. Rest is highly encouraged here, you may even refer to it as a form of hibernation, as you take some days for yourself and away from the hustle-and-bustle of the outer world.

With this as well, the decaying leaves from winter bring many nutrients to the soil for spring. This natural release from your body is an opportunity for you to become a little more grounded in to your femininity and creative ideas. Gentle brainstorming, simple step by step organization, and enriching visualization can assist you during this time to help bring energy into your future plans.

SPRING

PRE OVULATION PHASE

Spring represents the follicular and proliferative phase of your cycle. It is the hormonal shift in your body that connects menstruation and ovulation together. The hypothalamus in your brain sends a signal to your pituitary gland to release a hormone, FSH. This hormone is responsible for telling your ovaries to produce 5-20 eggs. Each egg is encompassed within a follicle until one of which become mature and can be released.

This prepares the seed for fertilization in crops, love making, and goals.

During this time oestrogen begins to increase, a hormone that is usually released around the third day of your period – which may be why your irritability seems to simmer down at the point. This hormone also increases blood flow to your genitals which may stimulate sexual desire, playfulness, and flirtatiousness. Know that this influx in sensations that lead up to ovulation doesn’t mean you have to have sex. It does mean however that you have a greater, natural tendency to look and feel good. You feel more inclined to be experimental and child-like.

You can water your ideas, shine light on your plans, and trust that your vision will bloom.

When it comes to manifesting your desires within this transitional period, you can work with the energy of your womb to begin to take action that will set you forth in the direction that you desire to be in.

SUMMER

OVULATION PHASE

As Summer approaches in your body, you may realize that you are in heat. Here is where ovulation begins to take place, and in fact, your literal temperature begins to rise during this time as well. The oestrogen within your body is at it’s peak, causing you to be more open and feeling more empowered. Testosterone also includes itself into the cocktail of arousing hormones, your vibrancy is high and your horniness is following very close behind. This is a biological response in the body for it’s natural desire and instinctual goal to reproduce. Again, a gentle reminder, that this heat in the body doesn’t have to lead to sex. Although, if you choose to do so, please enjoy! It is also a time for you to take up as much energetic, emotional, and mental space as possible. Allow yourself to be seen and vocalize your needs directly. This is a highly energetic time for a lot of woman. Those who work in an industry based on tips (hair dressers, dancers, restaurant staff, etc) tend to make more money during this time because their presence is so uplifting and magnetizing. So work with this summer time, ovulating energy.

AUTUMN

PRE MENSTRUAL PHASE

Between Winter and Summer comes Autumn, this is known as the Luteal phase.  What happens during the body within this season is a change in the corpus luteum after the follicle releases the egg. The corpus luteum releases the hormones progesterone, which is the hormone that thickens the uterine lining and prepares for sperm to fertilize the egg.

If the egg does not get fertilized then the corpus leteum will shrink and get reabsorbed. When this happens, a decrease of both progesterone and estrogen take place, causing you to begin the process of menstruation once more. Within this time, PMS may become present in your field causing you to bloat, have mood swings, gain weight, etc. Please do note that to declare this shift in your cycle as PMS (Pre Menstrual Syndrome) may do you a disservice and may stray you away from listening to what the body has to offer during this time.

When we know the effect that Autumn has on our body we can better prepare for this phase with proper care. For example, cutting down on caffeine and being more mindful of your diet so that what you are feeding your body is more nutritious may significantly decrease the cramping, bloat, and fatigue that your are more inclined to feel during this particular phase. When it comes to our emotional states, we often blame PMS for our anger, frustration, and sadness. Chances are however that what is bothering you during this season may be the undertone of what is bothering you throughout the rest of your cycle also. Our emotions are designed to be a guidance system for how we are perceiving our experiences.

This time of the month gives you an opportunity to really hone in and identify any circumstances in your life that may need change or adjustmentsFall is the time where we prepare to release, and the best way to release is to bring awareness to what is taking up unnecessary space in our body and within our energy field.

When it comes to projects and manifestations, this may be a good time for you to to take care of any extra minute details, fine edits, and/or prepare for the ending of it with presentation or a slight pause before your body, mind, and womb enter a state of rest.

HOW TO TRACK YOUR CYCLE

PDF ATTACHED

A great way to begin to notice the ebb and flows of your cycle is to lightly document and journal your emotional, physical, and energetic state(s) that you transition through from week to week. After about three months or so, you will be able to recognize a pattern between yourself and the seasons within your womb. With this, you won’t need to rely on marking the calendar or keeping track of what day of the month it is. When you tune in and listen to your body, you’ll be able to determine where you are in your cycle intuitively by tuning in to where you are internally and decide a course of action the best serves you during this time.

On top of that, you’ll be able to bring more mindfulness in to your emotional + energetic being. Now that you have insight on the expansion and contraction that you experience in the body, you’ll be able to understand feel comfort in the weekly sequences that happen within your mind and your body.  You will be able to roll with the momentum of your ovulation-periods, and be able to give yourself permission and time to rest and simmer during your menstrual-period. Working with the energetics of your body will help you immensely because you will know when it is bets for you to move your energy inwards or outwards, upwards or downwards.
